Mireku Duker Speaks At WAIMM Industry Confab Today

George Mireku Duker, a Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources responsible for Mining, has been billed to address the 5th West African Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (WAIMM) conference today, January 17, as the main speaker.

The annual industry conference and exhibition, WAIC 2023, which is expected to be attended by mining engineers, metallurgists and geologists, as well as players from the mining and petroleum sector, will take place at the Ghana Shipper’s Authority auditorium in Accra, under the theme, “Re-Shaping the Future of Industry Professionals.”

Mr. Duker, who has in-depth knowledge in mines and oversight responsibility of the sector, will address the gathering on the topic, “Enhancing the Sustainability of the Mining Industry in Ghana through Legislation and Transparency.”

The conference will commence at exactly 10 in the morning.

WAIMM is a voluntary, non-governmental organization incorporated under the laws of Ghana with the aim of enhancing professionalism in the mining and petroleum industry across West Africa and beyond.

Its focus is to provide exceptional leadership in science and industry, provide high quality professional input into industry and society, and provide local, regional and global networking for professionals, among others.

The strategic objective of WAIMM is to deepen professionalism in the mineral and geo-science industry and also to represent geoscientists in regional geology, mining and research in the West African sub-region
