K’si High Court annuls NPP Fomena elections

A Kumasi High Court has annulled results of the Fomena Constituency executive elections of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The matter was sent to the Court by Agyemang Budu, who sought a declaration of the polls as unconstitutional.

An earlier injunction secured against the elections was defied as the party went ahead to conduct the polls on Wednesday, May 4.

The Legal Committee of the party led by Mr Budu, therefore, sought further interpretation from the courts.

The High Court 5 presided over by Justice Patricia Quansah admitted the motion.

She, however, indicated to the plaintiff and defendant that the Fomena Constituency cannot partake in Saturday’s regional executive elections.
