Tarkwa MP Called To England & Wales Bar

Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency, George Mireku Duker, has been called to the bar of England and Wales, as solicitor.

The MP, was among hundreds of newly qualified lawyers from the University of Law, UK, who were called to the bar on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, after he successfully passed his Law Practicing (professional) course.

The latest academic ladder climbed by the lawmaker, adds to several qualifications he obtained, having started his journey as a Cert “A” teacher from Komenda Training College in the Central Region.

Prior to this, Mr Duker, who is currently pursuing PhD in Mining at University of Bradford, UK, holds LL. B from University of London.

The Anchor’s additional digging of his educational background revealed, the two-term MP, who doubles as Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources in-charge of Mining reveals, is an oil, gas and mining governance expert.

He holds a master’s degree in Oil and Gas Management from the University of Plymouth, a research university based in England, an Executive Certificate in Oil, Gas and Mining Governance at University of Oxford, UK.

He also has to his credit, certificates in Applied Petroleum Economics and Policy, Upstream Financial Modelling and Gas Sales and Purchase Agreements from the University of Dundee in the UK.

In Ghana, he holds a Bachelor in (B.ed) Finance and Accounting from the University of Winneba, Ghana, where he acquired his knowledge in Finance.

Mr Duker, has wealth of managerial experience both in private and public sectors, where he continues to contribute his quota to serve the country.

A native of Wassa-Fiase, he hails from Dompim Pepesa in the Western Region, the most natural-resource-endowed region in Ghana.
