Police brutality is a disgrace to Ghana’s democracy- TEIN Deputy Coordinator

Deputy Coordinator for the strident wing of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Tertiary Educational Institutions Network (TEIN) , Ekow Djan has criticized the Police for the way they conducted themselves during Day 1 of the Arise Ghana demonstration on Tuesday June 28.

He said the Police currently, is a disgrace to Ghana’s democracy.

“The unwarranted brutalities meted out by the Ghana Police indeed suggests and confirms the IGP, George Akuffo Dampare,PhD is not only a ‘celebrity,’ he’s a political animal. He is nothing but a political stooge who has been appointed to carry out the evil plans of President Akufo-Addo.

“The Ghana Police Service under Akufo-Addo and Dr. Dampare is disgrace to Ghana’s democracy,” he said in a statement.

Tuesday’s demonstration dubbed #KromAy3Hye demo ended abruptly after police restrained the demonstrators from pouring onto Ring Road Central to March towards the Jubilee House.

Stones were pelted at the police, from persons accused by organisers as “agent provocateurs” planted within them by the same police, and tear gas were fired, that certainly from the police.

So far, 29 persons have been arrested.
