Tesano Community Police Intensify Public Education

…Visit ‘The Anchor’ Office Ahead Of Xmas Festivities

Personnel from the Tesano Community Policing Unit in Accra have embarked on intensive community engagement with residents within its operational areas.

The ongoing exercise was to enhance security awareness among the residents, as well as identify policing needs peculiar to the respective communities.

The Anchor is informed the community engagement is also in line with the proactive prevention policing strategy of the Ghana Police Service, aimed at taking policing to the doorsteps of Ghanaians, building closer relationships between the police and members of the public, while gathering intelligence.

The team, led by Inspector Akesser, accompanied by Constable Brempong and Constable Manu, were at the office of GMD Media Network to engage the staff.

According to the officers, their aim is to eliminate the gap between the police and members of the public to assure everyone to freely reach out to the police in times of crime and crime-related issues.

Inspector Akesser highlighted the need for members of the public to know the police Toll Free Emergency numbers, particularly 18555, as well as the traditional 191, to be at finger tips for all.

He said the call centers are active all the time, and officers are on standby to response swiftly to emergency situations.

He also touched on various personal security tips and urged the need to be security conscious, by partnering the police by relaying vital information.

The team, which has been visiting office to office, and shop to shop to educate the residents, underscored the need for being each other’s keeper in the community before, during and after the Christmas festive season.

The officers also used the opportunity to encourage staff of GMD Media Network to report any suspicious developments bordering on crime to the police.

Mr. Alfred Dogbe, the Manager of GMD Media Network, thanked the officers for the visit, as he assured the staff’s collaboration with the Tesano Police Command, particularly the Community Policing Unit.
