Mireku Duker Donates To Osu Children’s Home, Tarkwa Prison

…To Mark His Birthday

George Mireku Duker, a Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, has donated assorted items separately to the Osu Children’s Home in Accra and the inmates of the Tarkwa Prisons in the Western Region to mark his birthday anniversary on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.

The items, which included bags of rice, cartons of water, gallons of cooking oil, assorted soft drinks and packs of toiletries, were presented to management at a very brief event.

Mr. Duker, who doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, in a message after the donation, explained that remembering the underprivileged and celebrating with them on such special occasions was dear to him.

“Remembering and celebrating with the vulnerable on such an important day is very dear and precious to me,” he stated.

The MP, who is well noted and loved for his generosity in supporting the poor in society, noted there is blessing in giving, adding that, “Let’s continue to be each other’s keeper.”

At the Tarkwa Prisons in the Western Region, the donation was made on his behalf through the constituency’s women groups and party faithful, accompanied by the Municipal Chief Executive, (MCE), Benjamin Kessie.

In Accra, he expressed gratitude to his wife and children, who joined him at the Osu Children’s Home to celebrate the day with the children, who were filled with joy.

“My sincere gratitude also goes to my wife and children who, graciously, celebrated the day at Osu Children’s Home. The children were full of smiles,” he said.

He also extends appreciation to all well-wishers, saying “I am eternally grateful to all those who joined me in celebrating my day.”

The deputy minister, who did not spend much time at the orphanage, quickly dashed back to office to keep his contractual obligation running, since it was a working day.

The management of the Tarkwa Prisons, as well as that of the Osu Children’s Home, expressed their profound gratitude for the kind gesture.
