Juju Scare Hits NDC Office

The Ablekuma North Constituency office of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Accra became the centre of attraction, after a member of the party sneaked in to perform what appears to be spiritual ritual at the party’s premises.

The ritual, commonly called “juju” in the local parlance, according to reports, was carried out yesterday Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at the NDC office situated at Kwashieman, an Accra suburb.

The incident threw both party supporters and onlookers at the Kwashieman Crossing area into a state of shock and dismay.

Onlookers, as expected, fed their eyes at the display of a dead black fowl hung at the door post of the office, with blood stains marking the glass doors.

This is coming at a time the NDC is struggling to organize its much publicized presidential and parliamentary primaries, slated for May 13, 2023, after a flagbearer aspirant, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, secured an injunction on the elections.

A former constituency organizer, Frank Atase, who lost their constituency elections last year, is alleged to have staged the ritual “juju” act.

Media reports said one could not enter the premises, without spotting a local port containing some three local eggs which had been sprinkled with local salt at the entrance of the office and red cloth spread on the floor.

According to the report, Mr.Atase embarked on the act ostensibly to payback one Ewurabena Aubynn, the 2020 NDC parliamentary candidate, whom he accused of masterminding his loss during the party’s constituency election held last year.

Interestingly, the office is a new one, yetto be handed over to the NDC in the constituency.

Speaking to an online portal Myrepubliconline.com, Albert Kan, an Ablekuma North NDC supporter, who witnessed the incident, said that Atase came to the office around 11:00p.m. Tuesday evening and destroyed the renovated office, which was to have been handed over yesterday.

Kan said his comrade alleged that Ewurabena influenced his loss, so he will do everything possible to see that she loses too.

Ewurabena is one of the three parliamentary aspirants on the ticket of the NDC for the coming primaries.

Meanwhile, the party in the constituency is yet to comment on the issue.
