80-Year-Old Ex-Education Minister Picks 9th Wife

A former Education Minister under the erstwhile President John Agyekum Kufuor administration has, in a colourful ceremony over the weekend, tied the knot with a young and pretty bride.

According to media reports, this newly married partner of Professor Dominic Fobih, who is a onetime Member of Parliament (MP) for the Assin South constituency in the Central Region, happens to be his ninth wife.

The politician allegedly has over 20 children. Not much is known of the bride but, according to reports by online news portal Ghanaweb, she is 27-years old.

A 17-seconds video clip from the ceremony, sighted by The Anchor, captured the former minister in a colourful expensive kente cloth, happily dancing with his new wife, who donned a white and gold beaded-laced corset gown.

Holding his wife’s waist with his right hand, while the woman had her hands on his shoulders, the two danced to Dada KD’s love song ‘Fatia Fata Nkrumah’ amid cheers from the audience.

Meanwhile, the video and picture of the politician and his wife, which has been topping the trends on social media, has got many especially the young ones talking.

While some congratulated the latest couple, others raised eyebrows, as they were stunned at the age difference.

But an appreciation message that came with their picture read: “Thank you for celebrating our special day with us and making it the most memorable day of our lives. Mr. and Mrs.Fobih.”

The octogenarian was the MP for Assin South constituency on the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) between January 2001 and January 2017.

He also served as the Minister of Lands, Forestry, and Mines during Ex-President Kufuor’s administration.

Before retirement, he lectured at the University of Cape Coast.

Since his retirement, not much has been heard of the educationist and politician, even though his party, the NPP, has formed government since he left parliament.
