STC Bus Carrying SHS Students Involved In Accident
The accident occurred close to the Gomoa Buduatta junction in the Central Region.
According to multiple media reports, the bus, with registration number GT-1079-20, which was full of students from Cape Coast in the Central Region, reportedly somersaulted after it collided into a speeding tipper truck that was heading to Kasoa from Winneba.
The report indicated that even though some of the students had already been rescued by members of the community who thronged the scene, a lot of them were still trapped as at the time the report was filed.
The live report also showed the scene of the accident, where both the STC bus and the truck could be seen lying on the side of the road, with many community members also assisting to rescue occupants.
The incident caused some amount of traffic at the spot, where it happened.
Video of the accident which went viral on the internet had many of the people around the STC bus, including personnel of the Ghana Police Service, who arrived at the scene immediately.
Also, on the scene were officers from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and other security agencies.
It indicated that the students were heading to different schools in Cape Coast. Many of them were in their school uniforms.
The extent of injuries sustained by the students has not been indicated yet.
The STC, a state-owned transport company, was yet to issue a statement or comment on the matter as at the time of filing this report.
