Akufo-Addo AppointsKofi Agyepong As YEA Boss

President Nana Akufo-Addo has appointed journalist and former Deputy Director of Communications of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Youth Employment Agency (YEA).

Kofi BaahAgyepong who worked with the Daily Statesman and co-managed the Publisher newspaper, replaces the immediate-past CEO and lawyer, Justin Frimpong Kodua, who, weeks ago, was elected the General Secretary of the NPP.

A letter dated Tuesday, August 9, 2022, announcing his appointment said, “Further to the resignation of Mr JustineKodua Frimpong as Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (the “Agency”) and in accordance with Section 12 (1) of the Chief Executive Officer of the Agency Act, 2015 (Act 887), the President has appointed you to act as the Chief Executive Officer of the Agency, pending receipt of the constitutionally required advice of the governing board of the Agency, given in consultation with the Public Services Commission”.

The appointment letter was signed by the Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante.

Mr. Agyepong, who until this recent appointment was the Deputy Director of Communications at the Presidency, was expected to have started work yesterday, Wednesday August 10, 2022.

“I take this opportunity to congratulate you formally on your appointment.

Kindly indicate your acceptance or otherwise of this appointment within 14 days of receipt of this letter, the letter said.

Meanwhile, the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, who released the letter on his facebook wall, extolled MrAgyepong, saying his new appointment is well deserved.

“Congratulations to Mr. Kofi Agyepong, Deputy Director of Communications at the Presidency, on your appointment as CEO of the Youth Employment Agency.

He has been an epitome of loyalty, competence and discipline over the years, and this appointment is thoroughly well-deserved. I’m confident he will succeed in this new role, and continue to make all of us proud. Congratulations, once again, Kofi”, Mr Arhin said.
