‘Exercise a little patience; your roads will be fixed soon’ – Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu to Suame residents

Member of Parliament for Suame, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has asked his constituents to “exercise a little patience” for construction works to begin on their deplorable roads.

The Majority Leader said work will soon resume on the Suame-Maakro road.

Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said the bitumen shortage to the contractor contributed to delays in road works.

Splashed water from a sachet water threw at the MP and his entourage
“They should exercise a little patience and pretty soon, in the next three days, we will start,” the MP said.

“Even though the road has developed potholes, we have plans to immediately refurbish the place… The situation was worsened by the shortage of bitumen in the system,” he explained.

Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu also assured that it was always the intention of the state to work on the road.

“Before it got scraped, it was dusty. Nobody would go and scrape off the surface of it when the person has no plan to refurbish the road.”

Meanwhile, he also said he is not worried over the conduct of agitated artisans and spare parts dealers at Suame Magazine who pelted him and his entourage with sachet water and other items.

A swift police intervention saved the MP from being attacked by angry artisans over delays by the government in fixing the deplorable Suame Roundabout-Maakro stretch of the main Kumasi-Techiman Road.

According to angry artisans, the bad roads is not only hampering businesses but also threatening lives.

They accused government of being insensitive to their plight as the Suame Roundabout-Afrancho stretch still has pot-holes despite a section being scraped by Joshob Construction, contractors working on the rehabilitation works.

“We threw a lot of sachet water at him. As for the water, we threw a lot at him,” angry Kwasi Bona told JoyNews.
